The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) announced the appointment of Abdullah Saleh Al-Shebeili as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Audit Committee Center in Washington, D.C. Al-Shebeili currently serves as CEO and Board Member of the Saudi Authority for Internal Auditors (SAIA) and is the Secretary-General of the Arab Confederation of Internal Auditors.

This appointment reflects the advanced international standing and confidence achieved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of audit and governance. It affirms the global professional community's trust in Saudi national competencies and highlights the Kingdom’s role in developing specialized cadres and professional standards.

The IIA stated that the decision to appoint Al-Shebeili as the Chairman of the Center recognizes his effective contribution to developing the IIA programs and his extensive experience in establishing and operating professional organizations regionally. It also acknowledges the role of the Saudi Authority for Internal Auditors in promoting the internal audit profession regionally and its ongoing efforts to enhance governance and raise the quality of audit committee outputs.

The Global Audit Committee Center is the first of its type and serves as the global reference for regulating the work of audit committees and related legislation, providing a reliable source of best professional practices and scientific resources to enable committees to perform their role effectively within the corporate governance system.
