The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) announced that Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors (SAIA), won the bid to host the 2027 International Conference of Internal Auditors. The decision follows a highly competitive process involving several candidate countries.

The announcement was made during the 2025 edition of the conference, currently underway in Toronto, Canada. The SAIA is participating as a Diamond Sponsor, with a delegation led by General Court of Audit (GCA) President and SAIA's Chairman Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Alangari. The Saudi delegation is the largest at the event, comprising over 170 professionals and specialists.

Dr. Alangari emphasized that the Kingdom’s success in winning the bid is a continuation of its growing global presence in hosting major international forums, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that this achievement reaffirms the Kingdom’s global standing and its commitment to becoming a premier destination for international events. Furthermore, he highlighted that hosting the 2027 conference underscores Saudi Arabia’s leadership in the internal auditing profession and reflects its dedication to advancing auditing practices, supporting professional development, and raising awareness of the critical role of the internal audit.

In a related context, Mr. Abdullah Saleh Al-Shebeili, CEO of SAIA, explained that hosting the International Conference of Internal Auditors (2027) is an evidence of the Kingdom’s global standing and confirmation of confidence in its organizational capabilities and advanced infrastructure, which opens new horizons for international cooperation, enhances cultural and knowledge exchange, and contributes to building bridges of strategic partnerships, in addition to transferring knowledge and expertise for developing national competencies and raising the quality of performance in various sectors.

It is worth noting that the International Conference of Internal Auditors is organized by IIA, and is held annually in countries that are successful and advanced in the internal auditing profession. It is also the largest gathering of professionals and witnesses attendance from various countries around the world.
